Good Morning and welcome to this second installment of “Relationships Tip Tuesdays.”

Since this is a month in which we celebrate “Love” with Valentine’s Day, I thought it appropriate to share some thoughts about this critical subject.  I want to share two quotes with you this morning.  The first is from the movie “Chaos Theory.”  “The most important thing about love is we choose to give it . . .  and we choose to receive it.  Making it the least random act in the entire universe.  It transcends blood, it transcends betrayal . . . and all the dirt that makes us human.”  The second is words from the apostle Paul found in I Corinthians 13:4-7.  “Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

So, what do these two quotes have to say that is relevant to my world today?  For some of us – this time of year is exciting and full of flowers, chocolate, and romance.  For others it is a reminder of pain, heartbreak, and relationships gone bad.  But what these two quotes tell us is that we are not done.  The pain does not have to triumph.  The emotions do not have to rule over us.  We can be in control of our feelings by taking control of our choices and actions.  We do choose to give and receive love and we choose the actions that will communicate that love.  We often wait to act until we feel like doing it, yet this rarely works.  My suggestion for you is that feelings typically follow actions.   So – choose today to express your love by specific actions, by love behaviors (even if you aren’t feeling particularly loving) and see what positive things might occur.   Remember that genuine love always protects, trusts, hopes, and perseveres!
