Mondays Matter

“Every single day you live, you make a difference in the world, and you get to choose the difference that you make. We are part of the natural world. And even today, where the planet is dark, there still is hope. Don’t lose hope. If you lose hope, you become apathetic and do nothing. And if you want to save what is still beautiful in this world, if you want to save the planet for future generations, your grandchildren, their grandchildren, then think about the actions you take each day. Because multiplied a million, a billion times, even small actions will make for great change,” – Jane Goodall

These are powerful words, when taken to heart. For many of us, we get up, go through our daily routine, perhaps without giving a lot of thought to the consequence of our actions.  However, our actions or inactions, have results. We look at the lay of the land and we see wars around the globe and we see political and financial unrest, and it often feels overwhelming. But we get to choose our response. If we allow the world that often seems to be coming apart at the seams to dictate our response, as Jane Goodall says, we often become apathetic. However, if we look beyond our circumstances and choose to lean upon a God who cares about us, our children, and our grandchildren – we can choose to engage and make changes today.

I like a byline that I recently saw at a church. It said “Changed Lives, Changes Lives.” When we are changed we have the opportunity to become change agents – and make a difference.
