Mondays Matter

Championing Living on Purpose and the concept that Monday’s Matter, is something I have been passionate about for over 40 years. In that time, I have written about living lives that are consequential; I have spoken in a variety of settings about it; and have taught about the fact that “Retirement” is actually not a biblical principle. Yet, most of us look forward to some form of retirement. But, I ask the question, what is it?

Please don’t misunderstand my passion for living out lives that matter. As we get older, we do slow down and often shift our focus. And that’s OK. Some leave the work world to take care of grandchildren, volunteer as a docent at the zoo, or support Hospice patients. There are numerous ways that we can still impact lives, without needing it to be a paid position. Would you consider these individuals retired?

As I age, and feel the aches and pains that go along with it, I am slowing down in some areas. Will I ever retire? It all depends on what you mean. Will I at some point walk away from my “work world?” Probably so. Will I ever stop my pursuit of making a difference in people’s lives? Not as long as I am able.

So, today I have a question I would like for you to respond to – “What does retirement mean to you?” If you are reading this on email, just hit reply and tell me your thoughts. If you are reading this on Facebook or some other platform, just put your response in the “Comments.”

I really am interested in your thoughts and perspective. Thanks for taking the time to respond, even with just a few words. I look forward to reading them.
