Mondays Matter

For many people, the question may feel premature. By that I mean, there are lots of individuals you have yet to ask the question of “Why am I here?” “What truly matters?” “What is my purpose?” “Do I even have a purpose?” Questions, questions??

My focus today is for those who have a sense of why they are here but they struggle with embracing their purpose. And our culture doesn’t make it easy. People long for “hump day” (Wednesday) and they can hardly wait for the end of the week, proclaiming “Thank God it’s Friday.” These same individuals also live from vacation to vacation. Their employment is a necessary evil to make vacations possible. And I understand that because I used to be right there with them.

But beginning about 40 years ago, that began to change. As I came to understand that God had created me for a reason – for a purpose – my entire perspective changed. I began to find fulfillment and even joy in my work. And with that came an understanding that Mondays were the beginning of my opportunities to impact people each week. Weekends, like vacations, were not a goal to get to but a chance to rest and recharge so that I could be better prepared come Monday, to fulfill my God given purpose. I can promise you that in that there is life to be lived.
